This resource from the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology journal, examines the use of magnesium sulphate prior to preterm birth for cerebral palsy prevention across Australia and New Zealand.

Antenatal magnesium sulphate was established as a strategy to prevent cerebral palsy in preterm infants following evidence from randomised trials over 15 years ago. A recent Cochrane review reaffirmed, with high certainty, that magnesium sulphate given for fetal neuroprotection reduces the risk of cerebral palsy.
