This toolkit from CP-Achieve, is a practical resource for researchers who want to involve people who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) in research.

Developed by a team that included people with cerebral palsy who use AAC, researchers and consumer involvement advocates, the toolkit responds to the fact that AAC users are often underrepresented in research. It provides a framework and practical strategies for making research more accessible, including balancing power, collaborating with AAC users, allowing enough time, working with communication supporters, adapting research methods, and addressing ethics and consent. This resource may be especially useful for cerebral palsy researchers and others working with people with childhood-onset disability who use AAC.
