Have a question about cerebral palsy but not sure where to start looking?
Meet Ask, the new AI assistant on My CP Guide.
Ask is designed to make it easier to find trusted information about cerebral palsy. You can ask a question in your own words and Ask will search the approved information and resources available through My CP Guide to help you find what you’re looking for. It will also show you the sources behind its response, so you can check the information and explore further.
Why we created Ask
There’s a lot of information about cerebral palsy out there. Knowing what to trust, what is relevant to you, or even what to search for isn't always easy.
That’s one of the reasons we created My CP Guide.
Since launching in late 2022, My CP Guide has grown to include more than 1,000 resources covering health and wellbeing, education, employment, relationships and everyday life.
As My CP Guide has grown, we’ve also been thinking about how we can make all that information easier to find.
Sometimes you know what you want to ask, but you don't know the right words to search for or where on the website you might find the information.
With Ask, you can simply start with your question.
You might ask:
-
How does cerebral palsy affect people as they get older?
-
What can help with pain or fatigue?
-
How can I prepare my child with cerebral palsy for starting school?
-
What information is available about cerebral palsy and employment?
-
What assistive technology might help me?
You can then keep exploring the topic by asking another question or choosing one of the suggested follow-up questions.
Shaped by the cerebral palsy community
We wanted to make sure Ask worked for the people who would actually use it.
So, from the beginning, people with cerebral palsy, parents and carers helped us think about what Ask should do and what would make it useful. They shared how they look for information, the kinds of questions they might ask and what would help them feel confident in the answers they receive.
Their feedback helped shape things like how Ask presents answers, makes sources available and supports different accessibility and communication needs.
People with lived experience also helped us test Ask before it launched, trying it out with real questions about health, pain and fatigue, education, employment, communication, the NDIS and everyday life.
One tester told us:
It’s really great to be able to get instantly referred to relevant articles and topics without having to search the different categories and resources on My CP Guide. Saves so much time.
Their feedback helped us see what was working well and, just as importantly, what we could make better.
You can see where the information comes from
This is one of the most important parts of Ask.
Ask doesn't just give you a response. It links you back to the sources it has used, so you can see where the information came from, check it yourself and explore the original resources.
That was important to the people who tested it too.
As one tester explained:
This is a major advantage. You can check where the answer came from rather than simply accepting an AI-generated answer.
Ask is there to help you find and understand information, not to replace the information itself.
Ask isn't perfect, and that's why your feedback matters
Like all AI tools, Ask won't always get everything right.
Ask is designed to help you find and understand information. It doesn't provide a diagnosis, recommend treatments or replace advice from a doctor or other qualified professional.
Testing helped us identify things we could improve. Sometimes Ask returned information that wasn't as relevant as it could be, some responses were longer than people would have liked, and asking a question in a different way could sometimes produce different results.
That's why feedback is so important. It helps us understand what's working, what could work better and where people may be looking for information that My CP Guide doesn't yet have.
👍 👎 We want your feedback
You can help us make Ask better.
When you use Ask, look for the thumbs up 👍 or thumbs down 👎 and let us know what you think about the response.
Was the information helpful? Did Ask understand what you were looking for? Was something missing or not quite right?
Give the response a 👍 or 👎 and let us know.
Your feedback will help us continue improving Ask and making it more useful for people with cerebral palsy, families and carers.
Ready to give Ask a try?
Ask doesn't replace the information and resources already available on My CP Guide. It gives you another way to find and explore them.
And this is just the beginning. We'll keep listening, learning and improving Ask with the cerebral palsy community.
Give Ask a try. Ask a question, check the sources and don't forget to give us a 👍 or 👎
